DANCING STAR
January 3, 1999
- -
The night is full of stars.
The air is cold and crisp.
The snow looks like diamonds in the moonlight.
I walk up a hill,
next to the bank of a stream
which flows gracefully under the fragile ice.
I stand up top and look around.
I close my eyes and say a prayer
for you.
I open my eyes and look up.
The moon is covered by layers of clouds,
but its light still shines through.
Now there is only one star in the sky
over to the right of the moon.
It is so high,
so brilliant.
It looks as if it is dancing.
The clouds pass right by it,
unable to hide it.
Little, laughing, dancing star,
thank you for shining so brightly
in the sky
and in our hearts.
